Developing story: Rivers records first coronavirus case


It is now known that the first case of the coronavirus has been recorded in Rivers State.
The Port Harcourt Telegraph had  Thursday evening reported online that someone whose identity it did not disclose may have tested positive.
But the outbreak of the virus in the oil bearing State was confirmed Thursday night by the country’s  health authorities.
We have learnt through credible sources that the victim may have flown in the same aircraft with  the son of a former Vice President and presidential candidate of the PDP.
Atiku Abubakar’s son who is presently battling  for his life has reportedly infected others, including the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed
Mohammed came in close contact with him on the plane.
Accordingly, Rivers joins a group of states in the country which have one reported case each
Already, the Rivers State Government has placed travel restrictions in order to frustrate the spread of the dreaded virus.
According to the Government,  no one is allowed to enter or leave the State until further notice.
Symptoms of the disease include coughing, sneezing, difficulty in breathing  and fever among other things.
Persons suffering from these tendencies are requested to report their experiences at once.
In the meantime,  citizens are directed to wash their hands regularly,  use alcohol based hand sanitizers and keep a respectable distance from others.
