We’ll run an automated system – Amaechi

The Ministry of Transportation is taking urgent steps to ensure rail users are linked to a digital platform which would facilitate the process of obtaining tickets online.
Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Transportation disclosed that a new plan designed to ease the problems facing rail users who ply the Abuja-Kaduna route is currently being developed.
“We are aware of the issues and have heard all your complains about ticketing on the Abuja-Kaduna rail line, the Minister hinted, “We are already working on automation and online ticketing.”
The number of rail users on the Abuja-Kaduna rail line has significantly increased.
Last October, the Ministry revealed that 3,700 people are now using the Abuja – Kaduna rail corridor daily.
Recall that 1000 persons reportedly used the service daily after President Muhammadu Buhari commissioned it in 2016.
This number shows a daily increase of 2 700 people, suggesting that more Nigerians are beginning to see rail transportation as a viable option.
He appealed for understanding from rail users, saying all hands were on deck to ensure that bottlenecks facing them are removed.
“Please be patient with us as we try to fix this,” Amaechi added.
