Non natives dump city, return to their villages

Many Rivers people may have left the State capital and its environs for their respective local government areas to escape the 24-hour lockdown order issued by the Rivers State Government.
Most of the approved car parks were filled with travellers who are heading out to the grassroots, according to reports from our correspondents.
Markets have been thronged since Monday by people who are making last moment purchases, following the total lockdown order announced by Governor Nyesom Wike which takes place Thursday.
Wike’s efforts to put the Federal Government on the spot since the fight against the Coronavirus intensified hasn’t really materialized.
Most callers on radio have been attacking the State Government for taking unprecedented steps in its bid to contain the spread of the virus.
At the centre of the growing disagreement between  the government and the ordinaey people is the issue of feeding.
Most families can barely provide for children, and much of the palliatives that the system is promising are yet to get to the most vulnerable in society.
Governor Wike is expected to be on air on Silverbird Radio tomorrow.
Wike who took to his official Twitter account to disclose this said, “I will be a guest in a Special Phone-in Programne tomorrow,  May 6, 2020 at Rhythm 93.7FM.
“This programme scheduled for 10am to 12 noon will highlight the proactive measures taken by the RSG to combat Coronavirus in the State.”
Interestingly, the Government is urging the people of the State who are largely   shell – shocked by the extent of its orders, to tune in for the programme.
