Three boats and all the passengers who were aboard, including the boat drivers are yet to be seen days after they were hijacked.
They were seized on the sea route between Bonny and Port Harcourt on different days last week.
The boats, two small vessels which take 11 passengers each excluding the boat drivers and one big boat which accommodates 22 persons disappeared from the surface of the water on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
On the whole about 47 persons who were on those vessels, including the boat drivers are missing , according local sources who spoke to the Port Harcourt Telegraph.
As at the time of going to press, their whereabouts remain unknown, but many natives believe they may be held in the surrounding rain forest.
For several months, many have either been taken hostage or killed on the sea lane that leads in and out of Grand Old Bonny.
Bonny youths have on one occasion embarked on peaceful protests and reportedly engaged the Council Chairman of Andoni Local Government Area, following allegations that some Andoni youths may be part of the squad of kidnappers terrorising Bonny.
Unlike some riverine communities, Bonny has no access by land. A road which is running from Bodo in the direction of the island is under construction.
