Governor Nyesom Wike, one of the pillars of the PDP in the country, gave Rivers stakeholders who gathered at the Banquet Hall of Government House reason to
cheer when he hinted the South would speak soon.
Speaking in Port Harcourt on Tuesday February 1, 2022, Wike who admitted there have been conflicting tones regarding the presidential race in 2023 said, “the South will speak”.
Wike did not say when exactly the South would State its position , but he however acknowledged that posture of the South would, “choke them.”
“We are not small boys in this game”,Wike said of the schemes and horse-trading that are currently going on within the PDP.
Assuring that he would continue to work for the progress of the PDP, Governor Wike remarked, “I am not a liability, I am a valuable asset.”
He took a swipe at Chief Raymond Dokpesi and observed that people who have no locus to speak for, or on behalf of the party were unilaterally zoning the presidency.
Wike lampooned George Tolofari, Amaechi’s Commissioner for Transport for serving Rivers people with falsehood relating to the issue of handover note.
He urged those who served in the Amaechi team and who are busy defending processes that are not transparent to provide information on what happened to the Dash 8, an aircraft acquired by the Odili administration, which the Cross River State Government placed a bid on.
He also said Rivers people were itching to know what also happened to the transaction entered into between the State Government and a private company.
Wike denied that his administration had taken loans valued at over N300 billion, wondering what kind of bank would lend such an amount to a State Government.
But he said that Government will not leave any financial liability for the incoming administration, assuring that he was taking appropriate steps to liquidate existing loans drawn by his administration.
Wike again urged those aspiring to succeed him to think deeply of their aspiration before taking the plunge.
