Happening Now!: Abe supporters take APC rally to Elechi Amadi

A large crowd of APC supporters have converged at the playground of the Elechi Amadi Polytechnic where they are awaiting for the arrival of Senator Magnus Abe.

Abe, a strong opponent of the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, who has picked his form to contest the gubernatorial election on the platform of his party is being received by members drawn from Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas.

One of the giant sized banners adorning the venue.

Tony Okocha, former Chief of Staff rouses the crowd that’s waiting for Abe.

Said a top aide of Senator Magnus Abe, Parry Benson who is on ground at the playground to be used for the rally, “They kept on saying Abe is not a member of the APC. Now that he has picked up the form on the platform of the APC, who is lying?”

A Telegraph Political Correspondent reports that traffic along Rumuola Road in that part of the State capital has been reduced to a crawling pace.

Humans and banners have taken over as Senator Abe plans his grand entry later in the day.

Top APC members expected to grace the event which will showcase the Ogoni-born politician include Senator Wilson Ake, Hon. Golden Ben-Chioma, Rt, Hon Chidi Wihioka, Barrister Worgu Boms and Tony Okocha, a former Chief of Staff to Rotimi Amaechi.

Abe who insists that Rivers people are “no slaves” is expected to arrive at the venue at about 1.00pm Nigerian time.

In the meantime, the atmosphere, our Correspondent reports, is charged as Abe’s supporters sing and dance.

Chants of “APC! Next level!! APC! progress!!”, Our Correspondent adds, rent the air right now as excited party members from Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas roll out the drums.

The Port Harcourt Telegraph is keeping an eye on the developing story. Our political Correspondent will be bringing updates to our readers as the news breaks.
