Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Wednesday declared that State lawmakers who are tied to the apron strings of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike have lost out.

“They are gone”, the Governor emphasized while addressing a strong delegation of the people of Etche Ethnic Nation, comprising traditional rulers and chiefs, politicians and religious leaders, academicians and other opinion leaders as well as women and youths.

Receiving members of the delegation, the Governor revealed that every effort made by opposition forces to terminate the error wittingly made by pro-Wike lawmakers who openly decamped from the PDP to the APC has failed.

Fubara said nothing would stop embattled lawmakers whose membership of the State House of Assembly has been placed on hold from returning to their villages on account of the tactical mistake that they have made.

“We all knew what happened when they crossed, and how did they cross? Because of our God, for them to make that mistake, they crossed!”, Fubara noted.
“They are gone, and they are gone”, the State’s number one citizen reiterated, “Now, let me tell you, when I wanted to help them, I accepted to help them because we are all one. We disagree to agree as it is said.”
“But, they thought they are smart. What is holding them is the declaration of their seats vacant that was done on December 13, 2023. That is what is holding them.
“We are not doing any budget to nullify that decision. It is what will send them to their villages” the governor further remarked.
He revealed that his administration would place appropriate priority attention on education, healthcare and agriculture as from next year.
“For me, as I am talking to you, I have started preparing my budget for 2025, which I am going to present very soon. And, in that budget, my key areas will be education, healthcare and agriculture”, the Governor stressed.
The Governor who admitted that Omuma already has a commissioner pledged that he would take steps to appoint a commissioner from the Etche Local Government Area.
Also speaking, the Oyeisi Etche, His Eminence, Eze Emmanuel Opurum, said the Etche nation will continue to give its full support to Governor Fubara and ensure that his administration succeeds.
Eze Opurum, who also said that the political crisis in Rivers State is an ill wind that will do no good to anybody, called on governors of the 36 States of the Federation to quickly summon a meeting to collectively find a lasting solution to the crisis, which should be communicated to President Bola Tinubu and eventually enforced.
On his part, the President General of Ogbakor Etche Worldwide, Sir Charles Nwonuala, said the Etche people, who share in the travails, joy and the many victories of Governor Fubara, came to pledge their unalloyed support, confidence and faith in him and his administration.
Sir Nwonuala also presented a list of roads, schools and other development needs plaguing them as a people, while insisting that they endorse and support the good governance provided by the Governor in the State.
Earlier, Head of Rivers State Civil Service, Dr George Nwaeke, said the Oyeisi Etche, the entire leadership structure plus academic professors from the Etche Nation, have come together with women and youths to express solidarity  with the administration of Governor Fubara.
Dr Nwaeke emphasised that they are particularly happy to identify with the administration because they rank among the first ethnic nations in the State who felt liberated when the administration of Governor Fubara started embarking on his all-inclusive leadership style and love for peace.
