Tinubu: Why I Signed Amended Electoral Act Into Law
By PHC Telegraph

President Bola Tinubu has explained why he endorsed among other things, an amendment of the country’s Electoral Act that has formally expunged a critical constitutional requirement that hitherto frowned at certificate forgery
Tinubu who spoke in the presence of so many politicians at an event organized to break the day’s fast said that he signed the amended version into law in order to avoid a threat to the rule of law.
The President described himself as a dye-in-the-wool democrat who is guided by the enormous respect he has for the rule of law.
Opponents of the APC and the amended Electoral Act are alleging that Nigeria’s President endorsed the amendments by the National Assembly because it aligns with the strategic interests of the ruling elite.
Oseni Rufai, an anchor on AriseNews has repeatedly accused Tinubu, insisting he appended his signature because it favoured him.
But Tinubu argued otherwise, saying that he was compelled by a strong resolve to strengthen the nation’s democracy to sign the amended electoral bill into law.
According to the nation’s number one citizen who acknowledged the place of political stability and peace in the survival of democracy, the game (politics) is sweet when one is winning.
