Road to the 2026 APC National Convention

• Politicians take over Abuja as APC showcases resolve, confidence, strength

By PHC Telegraph

Abuja – From across the country members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, have converged on the nation’s federal capital for the National Convention

Although party leaders have since arrived in Abuja, Tuesday 24th March, 2026, according to the itinerary of the event was officially slated as the date of arrival of delegates.

Our Correspondents report that Abuja is like a city under political siege. They say that the atmosphere in the  city is a blend of carnival and high-stakes corporate strategy.

From the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to the hotel lobbies of Maitama and Wuse, the “Broom” insignia is everywhere.
Traffic along the Three Arms Zone is heavy as delegates from all 36 states arrive in colorful “aso-ebi” uniforms.

Billboards and digital screens along the Airport Road scream slogans of “Consolidation” and “Renewed Hope 2.0.”
Local vendors, printers, and hoteliers are seeing a massive surge, with almost every major hotel fully booked since Monday.

The name of the President is however on every lip, on every billboard and it does appear that the nation may witness the making of a consensus candidate given the mood within the ruling party.

The Port Harcourt Telegraph begins its coverage of the APC National Convention. Correspondents covering the convention would be filing reports while our editorial desk in Port Harcourt ensures a steady flow of stories from the convention ground for the benefit of our readers.
