Former Governor of Rivers State and and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has admitted he enjoys the media spotlight, saying it makes him happy.

Wike who held a press briefing in Abuja Wednesday said he loved being on the lips of everybody including the media across the country.

The Minister’s latest brief is coming against growing public concerns about Nigeria’s democracy and attempts by some persons to turn the country into a one-party state.

The Minister denied sponsoring candidates that are gunning for the governorship ticket in Rivers State, claiming that he has neither  anointed Kingsley Chindah, the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives nor Alabo George Kelly.

George Kelly who may become a major opponent of Governor Siminalayi Fubara had disclosed he is effectively in the he race.

Chindah is yet to make any comments since his name started trending following public disclosures that he is eyeing Brick House.

Addressing the media, Wike urged the media to embark on investigations noting that a fact check by the media would reveal that Chindah is yet to pick the expression of intent and nomination forms.

He described George Kelly as his friend and said he was yet to endorse anyone for the office of governor when journalists pried some more.

He spoke vaguely about Fubara’s entry into the gubernatorial race and the forthcoming party primaries, and insisted that the PDP would certainly field candidates.

He mocked Senator Adolphus Wagbara who is widely described as the Chairman of PDP’s Board of Trustees, calling him unprintable names.

Wike equally adopted an “I-told-you-so” approach while talking about the turn of events in the ADC, saying he had predicted that the opposition would not withstand the storm.

Asked what he feels like when he is referred to as the light of Abuja, he said he was glad to be appreciated for the work he is doing.

Reactions are pouring in from the mass media as well as social media platforms as Wike once again stirs the hornet’s nest and prepares for a showdown with Governor  Fubara in the APC and other adversaries in the PDP.

The Telegraph would be updating readers with details of the developing story.
