Members of the All Progressives Congress who have been tagging along with Senator Magnus Abe are leaving in droves for the party’s mainstream led by Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Transportation.
The latest set of political decampees to dump the fiery Senator, numbering more than 500, are from Gokana Local Government Area.
Gokana is the home base of the Senator who represented the South East Senatorial District in the Senate.
The decampees led by Hon. Abah Maxwell threw in the towel in full public glare on Saturday, the 23rd of January, 2021, even as a former member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Chris Mba from Andoni who also left the fold with his supporters last year predicts an exodus of more Abe supporters.
According to reports that are reaching our news desk, Abe’s strong supporters in Gokana led by Maxwell gathered at the community primary school at K-Dere Saturday and denounced Senator Magnus Abe and Hon. Igo Aguma.
They said they have decided to embrace the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon Chubuike Rotimi Amaechi and their son Chief Victor Giadom.

Speaking during the brief but impressive ceremony, Maxwell described Abe as a wasted political investment, an apparent reference to Abe’s usual claim that he is Amaechi’s greatest political investment.
Maxwell observed that they have been misled for so long by their former leaders
He pleaded for forgiveness and asked the party to accept he and his colleagues as full members of the party.
Hon Chris Mbah had told the Telegraph in an exclusive interview that many more would switch their allegiance from Abe to Amaechi.
Mbah said that many Abe sympathizers had become aware increasingly that the future lies in forging a united party.

The Andoni-born politician who accused Senator Abe of working against the restoration of peace advised the Senator to look for another platform to field his candidates in the forthcoming local government elections instead of undermining the APC.
He said there was no need for the Senator to continue to lie about his membership of the APC, saying he has since turned his back on those who brought him to political limelight.
The Telegraph would be publishing a full account of the interview in its next edition.
In the meantime, there are ongoing jubilation in Gokana where Abe has suffered a severe political setback.

In attendance were Dr. Innocent Barikor, Hon Second Bakor, Hon Carlos Kakue, APC Acting Chairman Gokana LGA, and several other stakeholders of the Rivers APC in Gokana.
The new entrants who have been fully integrated into the party would be part of the registration exercise that is expected to take place in the State.
