Breaking news: Ojukwu not founder of APGA – Nat. Chair

* Wonders what Ojukwu’s wife came to do at Soludo’s inauguration;
* Blasts Peter Obi for betraying APGA;
* Dismisses insinuations APGA is a small party;
* Says “I know nothing about security”
* States why FG is unable to resolve ASUU crisis

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Victor Oye has dismissed claims that Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, former Biafran warlord, is the founder of the party.

Oye who was fielding questions Tuesday, on One-On-One, a Channel Television interview programme, emphasized that the late warlord was neither the founder nor one of those who conceptualized the idea of APGA.

Oye argued that Ojukwu only joined the party because of his love for the people who were behind the party that most describe as ‘Igbo Party.’

Oye’s assertion on television is coming as a great surprise, given the fact that APGA’s acceptability in Eastern Nigeria has been associated with numerous claims that the ex-Biafran gave birth to the party.

Its National Chairman also accused Mrs Bianca Ojukwu, daughter of late Chief C. C Onoh, of turning her back on APGA.

He wondered what Ojukwu’s widow came to do at the inauguration of the Soludo administration.

Mrs Bianca Ojukwu.

Asked what he thought about the conduct of Mrs Ojukwu and Mrs Obiano on inauguration day, the APGA Chair said the two women merely offered entertainment at the event.

The Chairman blasted Dr Peter Obi for betraying APGA, saying that since he betrayed the oath he took to serve the party, his political growth has become stunted.

He said Obi’s bid to become a vice president under the PDP failed, stressing that it would fail again now that he is hunting to be a president because he is carrying a curse.

Talking on the zoning of the presidency, Oye said the natural place for all political parties to pick the country’s next president is the South East.

He said the South West, North West and the South South have all produced President’s, arguing that the North East and South East were yet to have their turn.

On ASUU and the Federal Government, Oye observed that arguments profered by intellectuals who are leaders of  the  Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, have completely overwhelmed the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr Chris Ngige.

He said it was wrong to leave negotiations between striking lecturers and the government in the hands of Ngige.

According to him, the inability of the Minister to comprehend the issues facing University education is basically why there has been no resolution  of the ASUU crisis.

Oye dismissed insinuations that APGA is a small party, saying that the party is the third largest in the country.

Out of 18 political parties in the country, he stressed, only the APC, PDP and APGA have elected Governors and lawmakers.

Oye slammed the media for offering media space exclusively to the APC and the PDP, alleging that activities of parties such as APGA were under reported.

“I am not a security man”, Oye who was asked a question on the nation’s growing security concerns remarked, “All I know about is self preservation.”
