There are serious indications that Barrister Nnamdi Okere from Okehi in the Etche Local Government Area has clinched the Senatorial ticket of the APC .

Initial reformation emanating within the party picked up by the Port Harcourt Telegraph, had suggested that Hon. Bisi Nwankwo from Omuma Local Government was the favourite to take the ticket.

The novelty of the assignment of the ticket to Etche Ethnic Nationality may, coupled with pressure reaching the leader of the party, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi may have forced the APC which was looking at the balance of its tickets in the area may have forced the APC to make a U-turn.

Etche in comparison to Omuma has more votes and the thinking appears to be that Omuma where Kelechi Nwogu, a serving member of the House of Assembly has bagged the PDP ticket for the House of Representatives may not be the place to choose a senatorial candidate.

Giving the ticket to Bisi Nwankwo at the expense of the Etche Local Government Area when numbers matter would have meant that Allwell Onyesoh who now has the PDP Senatorial ticket on the platform of the PDP would have a smooth sail.

Besides, the APC may have considered the fact that Hon. Ephraim Nwuzi who is going for a second term from Etche would be placing its card heavily on the Etche side if it ran with Nnamdi.

Okere, a close ally of Dakuku Peterside, former Director General of NIMASA and a gubernatorial aspirant in the 202e elections may have turned the table against Bisi Nwankwo.

Bisi had left for Abuja a few days ago when the tide seemed to be in his favour. He apparently had an invitation to pick the form on arrival in Abuja.

Reports say Nnamdi who was also in Abuja as the time of this report filed by Gladys Ozamonu got a last minute nod to run the race.

Amaechi has been forced to bend backwards, essentially after facts emerged indicating that in going for Bisi, Ephraim would have taken everything.
Uzodinma Nwafor, produced by Nnamdi Okere and his political associates in Constituency 1, is now working with Ephraim Nwuzi.

He is an SA to the member representing Etche Omuma Federal Constituency. His presence in the race now that Nnamdi has seemingly emerged, would mean that those from Mba and Ozuzu clans in Constituency 1 will pile pressure on the party.

In Constituency 2, Livinus Amadi produced by Rt. Hon. Ogbonna Nwuke in 2018 is staging a comeback.

He is supported by Ephraim Nwuzi and Dr Reginald Ukwuomah, and Ukwuomah is anchoring is support for Livinus on a decision taken by the party, but Ukwuomah’s loyalty is being questioned.

Ukwuomah is under fire for allegedly holding a closed door meeting with Allwell Onyesoh, the senatorial candidate of the PDP.

We understand that Amaechi has been briefed of the development. Ukwuomah may have been asked to explain his side, according to what we are learning from APC members.

Ukwuomah is on the defensive at this time as information that Onyesoh has allegedly met with Ephraim makes the rounds.

Onyesoh produced Ephraim as council chairman and those peddling the rumour of his alleged meeting with Ephraim suspect the ticket of Hon. Kelechi Nwogu might be endangered.

Somehow, Kelechi is a strong candidate and party leaders in Etche are siding with him.

For now, Nnamdi savours the fruit of his perceived victory over Bisi Nwankwo.

It is not clear if Bisi will withdraw from the race or if he will insist on going to the primaries.

What is evident is the fact that the battle between the Nwuzi and Okere camps is not over yet.
