By PHC Telegraph
Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma who is a “Port Harcourt Boy” as those who grew up in the Garden City are known has agreed to make the pilgrimage to Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
While here, he is to receive one of the highest honours conferred by the State on eminent Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in the service of the State and nation.
According to information filtering in, Uzodinma would be among honorees who will on Saturday, receive awards of excellence bestowed on them by the Government and people of Rivers State.
Reactions that are being received from the Imo State capital, Owerri, suggest that Governor Nyesom Wike’s counterpart in that State is not taking the award of Grand Service Star of Rivers State (GSSRS) for granted.
A letter personally signed by Governor Wike of Rivers State, which was delivered to Governor Uzodimma said the award is in recognition of his “contribution and commitment to national unity and equity.”
“I am pleased to notify you of my approval for conferring the highest Rivers State Honours on you as the Grand Service Star of Rivers State (GSSRS)”, Governor Wike wrote.
“This award recognizes your outstanding commitment and contributions to advancing national unity, equity and justice and your valuable support for the government and people of Rivers.”
Governor Wike had a few weeks back said on national television that Uzodimma has the capacity “to crush any governorship candidate in Imo State.”
