Nigeria’s Flamingos will seek a place in their first FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup final when they confront Brazil in Morocco on Wednesday, November 4.

The semi-final brings together two teams whose campaigns have been shaped by resilience, with Nigeria recovering from an opening defeat and Brazil repeatedly overcoming difficult moments to remain unbeaten.

The Nigeria Football Federation lists the encounter for the Mohammed VI Football Complex, Pitch 3, in Rabat, with kick-off scheduled for 7pm Nigerian time.

For the Flamingos, the opportunity follows a recovery that has transformed uncertainty into belief.

Nigeria began with a 2–1 defeat to Poland but responded by beating Puerto Rico 2–0 and defending champions DPR Korea 3–1. They then overcame Mexico 2–1 in the round of 16 before edging Venezuela 1–0 in the quarter-finals.

Those four successive victories have carried the team to the brink of a historic breakthrough, although Brazil represent another demanding examination of their progress.

Against Venezuela, the Flamingos needed patience as goalkeeper Valeria Rebanales frustrated their attempts to break the deadlock.

The decisive opportunity arrived late when Oluebube Umejiaku won a penalty. Following a review, Azeezat Oduntan converted in the 89th minute to settle the contest and keep Nigeria’s title ambitions alive.

Brazil arrive with their own evidence of determination.

Trailing China at half-time in the quarter-finals, the South Americans equalised through Helena shortly after the restart. She struck again in the 87th minute to complete a 2–1 comeback and secure their semi-final place.

The performance demonstrated why Nigeria must sustain their concentration throughout the encounter, even if they establish an early advantage.

One of Brazil’s principal threats is Greise Kelly, whose three goals and five assists have made her an influential attacking presence. Her dribbling and delivery will test Nigeria’s defensive organisation.

At the other end, goalkeeper Jane Ijirigho has been important to the Flamingos’ progress. FIFA credits her with 16 saves, highlighting her contribution to the victories over Puerto Rico and Mexico.

Nigeria coach Busari has welcomed the opportunity while stressing his desire to deliver another performance worthy of the country.

“Reaching the semi-finals is a dream come true for me and a great achievement,” he told FIFA.

Brazil coach Rilany, meanwhile, anticipates a difficult contest. She identified Nigeria’s physical strength and stamina as qualities her players must overcome through a carefully prepared approach.

For Nigeria, the tactical challenge will be to combine defensive discipline with greater efficiency in front of goal. The Flamingos must also retain possession well enough to relieve pressure and give their attackers opportunities to threaten.

Their victory over DPR Korea provides grounds for confidence. Against Brazil, another composed performance could turn that confidence into a place in the final, where the winners will face either Japan or DPR Korea.
