Ekweremadu bail: One out; one in

Beatrice Ekweremadu, wife of a former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu has received bail from a UK court.

But her husband, Ike, was denied bail when the case involving the two Nigerians who are accused by the British of allegedly attempting to harvest a vital organ of an unsuspecting victim.

“The position is that I have granted bail to Beatrice subject to some fairly stringent conditions but I have refused bail to Ike”, the Common Serjeant of London, judge Richard Marks explained when the matter came up for hearing on Monday.

Ike Ekweremadu and his wife were arrested and detained by the Metropolitan Police, London after they stepped foot in the United Kingdom.

They were eventually produced in court and accused of conspiring to traffic a homeless man into the UK in order to harvest his kidney for their daughter.

According to the Daily Mail, Beatrice was charged with arranging or facilitating travel of another person with a view to exploitation, between August 1 last year and May 5, under the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Her husband, Ike was charged with conspiracy to arrange or facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting.
