Wike: Rivers people don’t eat crumbs
Governor Nyesom Wike has condemned the attitude of Rivers politicians who are being lured by crumbs to sabotage Rivers interests.
Wike who spoke about this on Tuesday at Abara in the Etche Local Government Area said that no true Rivers man could afford to go for crumbs.
The Governor said Rivers people were taught from the cradle to carry themselves well and reiterated that no matter what happens, he would do denigrate the State or endanger the interest of its citizens.
Although the Governor’s comment did not address anyone in particular, but the tone suggested that the reference to crumbs may not be unconnected with the ongoing squabble within the PDP.
Wike said it was unthinkable that true Rivers sons could be unduly subdued and made to be subservient in matters that have stakes.
He vowed that as Governor of a richly endowed State such as Rivers State he would not bow before anyone.

“Which State do they come from”, Wike queried, “The votes of Rivers people is not for dash.”
Wike reiterated that in the absence of any tangible project executed by the Federal Government in the State, Rivers voters would necessarily demand to know what they will get before putting their weight behind any candidate.
He thanked the Pro – Chancellor and Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University for executing the construction of the campus at Abara within the one-year deadline given to them.
The Rivers Governor admitted that he had no reason whatsoever to interfere with their assignment throughout the construction period.
Governor Wike said he was proud of their accomplishments, particularly the zeal that they exhibited in pursuit of a plan by the government to open up the grassroots through the development of satellite campuses that would help boost the local economy and create jobs.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Nlerum Okogbule thanked the Governor for his decision to set up campuses of the Rivers State University at the grassroots.
He said Governor Wike has done what many other leaders before him were unable to accomplish, stressing that the impact of his administration’s development effort has been felt in all sectors.
