Peter Obi takes questions on Arise News thrown at him by Reuben Abati on Sunday.

Peter Obi, head of the Obi-dient movement has urged Nigerians to entrust the country to his care, saying he is the rock on which the country could be rebuilt.

Speaking on Arise News Sunday afternoon, the Labour Party  candidate reiterated that he would ensure th Nigeria transforms from a consuming economy to a productive one in five years.

He said agriculture holds the key to increased  exports, improved foreign exchange earnings and enhanced job creation.

Obi said it was a shame that despite the large expanse of arable land, particularly in the North, Nigeria was still busy importing food.

He promised in the interest of the nation to build on agriculture, saying farmers would be encouraged through the deliberate provision of inputs, including cash, to expand the scope of arable land cultivation.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu…Peter Obi is Mr. Stingy.

Reuben Abati had asked Obi what he thought of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s reference to him as a stingy man.

Obi said the APC flagbearer who is widely respected is entitled to his opinion. He said even though Peter denied Christ three times, he became the rock on which the church was built.

He described himself as a proud Igbo and a proud cotizen born in the South East, but he clarified that he is running for president as a proud Nigetian who wants to be the rock on which the new Nigeria would be built.

Answering Abati’s question on h I s alleged stingy habit, the presidential candidate spoke about what he described as capital formation and the danger that the inability to save caused by frivolous spending could trigger off, hinting that the lack of a stable capital base could in the long run ruin an investment plan.

He disclosed that two major items – education and health – mattered to him and emphasized that he delivered adequately on the two fronts.

On Nasir El-Rufai who dismissed him as a Nollywood actor Obi said he was glad to be so described.

He said the entertainment industry is very critical  to the national economy, apparently suggesting El-Rufai who had called him an actor has little understanding of the contributions of the sector.

Obi disclosed that he has plans to join hands with major players in the industry to drive the entertainment sector beyond the point where it is now.

He also seized the opportunity to ask entertainers to vote massively for him now that he has been categorised as an actor by Nasir El-Rufai.

In response to a question, Obi said the least of his worries were accounts of people decamping from Labour.

He said Nigeria required tending, saying that for him, what is more important heading towards the election is his focus on what he can do to salvage Nigeria.
