Sim emerges Vice Chair, PDP Governors Forum
… As party tries to reposition itself

Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara who is back from a one-day retreat in organized by the PDP in the Bauchi State capital is now the Vice Chairman of the party’s Governors’ Forum.
He is to serve with the two – term Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed who was elected Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum.
The election of Governor Fubara as the vice chairman of the forum which comes against the backdrop of efforts by the PDP to reposition itself was announced by his counterpart from Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
Speaking shortly after the leadership of the forum was constituted, Governor Fintiri who disclosed that Governor Mohammed has emerged as the new chair hinted that the forum of governors “also elected Gov. Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State as its Vice Chairman.”

In his acceptance speech, Governor Bala Mohammed assured he would work closely with Governor Fubara in order to provide effective leadership.
Mohammed also solicited for the support of his PDP colleagues, saying that the executive of the forum would do its utmost to serve the best interest of the party.
The Port Harcourt Telegraph understands that 10 PDP governors were present at the event while three others were represented by their deputies.
The delegation of elected members of the National Assembly from the State which attended the one-day retreat was led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The one-day retreat which looked at options on how to unite and relaunch the PDP brought together party leaders, including the acting National Chairman, Senator Umar Damagun, National Working Committee members, the presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, elected governors and members of the National Assembly.
Mohammed takes over from Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, former Governor of Sokoto State who returns to the National Assembly as a Senator.

Although former Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike was not at the retreat, the appearance of the Rivers delegation headed aptly by his successor has confirmed that there are no plans in Rivers to dump the PDP.
Wike who was among PDP chieftains that met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the weekend told a reporter that leaving the PDP was not an option.
He said he and his colleagues, including the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde and ex-governor of Delta State, James Ibori are Nigerians who had come to show support to the President.
