The Rivers Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has spoken of the need for all Rivers people to join hands in ongoing efforts to present a positive image of the State to the rest of the world.

Such a posture, he said, would help to steer interest in the State’s economy and enhance its potentials as a destination for doing good business.

Fubara who warned against attempts by some persons to demarket the State on account of their failed political aspirations two days ago spoke at  the end of the second session of the fifth synod of the Diocese of Evo at the St. Philip’s Anglican Church in Oroigwe District.

The governor stressed the need for the church and residents  to collaborate in positively marketing the State, saying such a responsibility should not be left to the State Government alone.

The State’s Chief Executive admonished the Church to use its numerous platforms to promote the prevailing peaceful atmosphere which exists in the state that is conducive for people to live and do business.

“Rivers State is peaceful”, the governor noted while speaking at the thanksgiving organized by the Anglicans to mark the end of the synod.

“We are doing our best to reduce the crime rate and you all know that, at least, with the records that you have seen in the last few days”, Governor Fubara remarked.

The governor noted that aside from the commencement of the Port Harcourt Ring Road project designed to expand the scope of infrastructure, the aim is to achieve the development of a greater Rivers State.

He assured that youth empowerment, agriculture and industrialisation would be accorded high priority attention by his administration.

Promising that government will uphold the tenets of Christianity, Fubara urged the church not to overlook the need to educate youths against using technology to pursue negative goals that are counter-productive.

The visiting Bishop of Esan Diocese in Edo State, Rt. Rev. Gabriel Elabor who preached the sermon admonished the congregation to emulate the life of Jesus Christ.

He said they could do so by being humble, selflessly and courageous, especially in using the name of the  son of God to access deliverance.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of Synod materials to Governor Siminalayi Fubara by the host Bishop, Diocese of Evo, Rt. Revd. Innocent Ordu.
