Civil Servants Break Into Jubilation In Rivers As Fubara Extends His Hand

Rivers workers who are celebrating the Christmas have broken into widespread jubilation following the payment of a N100, 000 bonus.

News of the governor’s kind gesture towards workers spread like bushfire as it became clear that such a pronouncement has been made.

A worker who gave his name simply as Sam said, “Our Governor has continued with the tradition of providing for Rivers workers. At the start of his administration he introduced the payment of bonuses to workers.”

Nengi, a female civil servant had this to say when contacted for comments, “Again, our Governor has proved that he cares for the service and the people. This means that he is workers friend and pro people. We have never had a governor like him who is doing so much. ”

Nweke put it this way, “Those who claim today to own the State; who ran the State yesterday; did nothing to promote the welfare of the ordinary worker. The promotion of workers, they did not authorize or consider in all the years they served.

“For years our growth as civil servants was stagnated, our well-being ignored, our families made to suffer . Civil servants can never forget the Ill-treatment meted to us.”

A worker who did not want his name mentioned added, “The release of the bonus came late but the money will come in handy as we begin a new year. I hear the political class singing ‘Sim is working, Sim is coming’. Sim is working.”

Across the State, people are heaving sighs of relief as the old year comes to an end. Despite attempts to heat up the polity and create tension governance is going on at steady pace.

“Tell him I am satisfied” President Bola Tinubu said through the National Security Adviser who visited the State. Fubara’s hard work, his calm and appears to have caught the attention of the President and the APC.

The greatest asset Fubara has is the people someone said in the Rivers capital. It may well be so.
