Kwankwaso Unperturbed By Provisions Of The New Electoral Act – Mato

By PHC Telegraph

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a high ranking member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Magaji Mato says associates of Rabiu Kwankwaso are keeping an eye on the Electoral Act.

Mato who spoke on Arise Television Tuesday morning said there is no way Kwankwaso or any member of the party could be caught off guard as a result of some of the “Bobby traps” inserted in the Act.

The lawyer was referring to ongoing speculations surrounding the rumoured defection from the NNPP of the leader of the Kwankwassiya Movement.

Mato, exuding optimism, said there would be no difficulty in meeting some of the timelines inscribed in the said Act, stressing they will not be caught pants down.

Kwankwaso had drawn huge crowds when Peter Obi, former Presidential candidate of the Labour Party and Senator Seriake Dickson, former governor of Bayelsa, State who decamped from the PDP to the NDC visited him in Kano.

“Kwankwaso is still the issue in Kano politics”, a politician who did not want his name in print noted, “Kwankwaso controls Kano. A pairing of Obi and Kwankwaso in the presidential race would be formidable.”

The visit indeed sparked off talks about a possible pairing of Obi and Kwankwaso under the umbrella of a political party that is different from the NNPP.
