Nigeria Held by Jordan in Entertaining Friendly Draw

By Our Sports Desk

Nigeria’s Super Eagles were forced to settle for a 2–2 draw against Jordan in an international friendly that combined attacking flair with late drama, as both sides shared the spoils after a lively contest.
Jordan struck first through Mousa Al-Tamari, whose early effort in the 17th minute put the hosts ahead and momentarily unsettled the Nigerian side.
The response from Nigeria, however, was swift and assured. Winger Moses Simon restored parity in the 25th minute, finishing off a well-worked move to bring the Super Eagles back into the game.
Nigeria then took control before the break, with defender Emmanuel Fernandez putting the team ahead in the 41st minute, capitalising on a defensive lapse to give the visitors a 2–1 lead at halftime.
The second half saw a more determined Jordanian side, pressing higher and testing Nigeria’s defensive organisation.
Their persistence paid off in the 77th minute when Mohammad Al-Daoud found the equaliser, drawing his side level and setting up a tense finale.
Both teams pushed for a winner in the closing stages, but neither could find the decisive breakthrough.
The closing moments were marred by controversy as Alex Iwobi was sent off in stoppage time, reducing Nigeria to ten men and effectively ending any hopes of a late winner.
The dismissal capped a frenetic end to a match that had already seen momentum swing between both sides.
