Anyaoku receives warm birthday felicitations at 90

Across the country, the career diplomat and elder statesman has been receiving birthday felicitations from notable Nigerians
“I specially congratulate Chief Emeka Anyaoku on his 90th birthday celebration”, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Presidential candidate of the APC who took to his Twitter handle wrote.
Acknowledging his Anyaoku’s contributions to the growth of the Commonwealth, Tinubu remarked that 90-year old “is an international statesman, a distinguished Nigerian who served the global community as the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations.”
According to the APC candidate, “Chief Anyaoku is an icon of public service whose records of impeccable contributions to Nigeria’s development and diplomacy deserve a special place in the archives for generations to come.”
In a lengthy goodwill message, Peter Obi, flagbearer of the Labour Party, LP, noted, “I recall with exceeding joy, your long period of service to Nigeria and the international community which you discharged with the highest level of commitment and patriotism.
“As the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations, you presented the image and identity of a true Nigerian, championing the cause of good governance and promoting the entrenchment of democracy throughout the Commonwealth and the world at large.
“Nigeria owes Your Excellency a debt of gratitude. I have no doubt in my mind that Nigeria still needs your experience and invaluable contributions for her to navigate the forthcoming elections and other governance issues challenging the country.”
Also taking to Twitter to celebrate the nanogenerian, the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu said, “As Chief Anyaoku joins the league of Nonagenarians, I pray for his continued good health, sound mind, and clarity of spirit.”
Dr Bukola Saraki said, “As his friends, family, and supporters celebrate with him on this special day, I wish Chief Emeka Anyaoku a very happy birthday and pray that the Almighty will keep him in good health.”
Also wishing the diplomat many happy returns on the occasion of his birthday, the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar noted, “On behalf of my family and team, I celebrate Chief Emeka Anyaoku, the former Secretary General of the Commonwealth, a seasoned diplomat and patriot, and an enabler of justice and democracy in our country and the African continent on his 90th birthday.”
