Breaking news: CUPP Alerts Nigerians On Plot To Derail Political Transition

The Coalition of United Political Parties in Nigeria has alerted Nigerians of a plot to undermine the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and remove its Chairman.
CUPP disclosed through its Spokesman, Chief Ugochinyere, a House of Representatives candidate on the platform of the PDP, that staff of the Electoral Commission were being arrested and detained across the country for their alleged roles in revealing the manipulation of the voters register which be used for the 2023 general elections.
He specifically revealed that INEC staff in Imo State have been put under lock and key on the alleged instruction of the Governor.
CUPP commended INEC for publicly admitting that there were moves to inject ghost names in the voters register and equally taking steps to remove such names from the valid register.
The coalition of political parties also said it has received disturbing intelligence which suggests that there are moves by the APC to halt the electronic transmission of results and the use of BIVAS in the forthcoming elections.
CUPP called on President Muhammadu Buhari to halt the drift and rein in APC governors who are working behind the scene to undermine INEC.
The body also called for the arrest of those behind the move to mess up the nation’s register of voters and rig the forthcoming General Elections.
It vowed that political parties in the country will resist attempts by the ruling party to compromise the independence of INEC and illegally truncate the tenure of the National Chairman of the commission.
