Why We Must Make Them Pay – Fubara

What is left of the two-storey building which collapsed along Ada George Road in the Rivers capital, Port Harcourt.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has warned that anyone found culpable in connection with the fall of a two-storey building in the State capital will be punished.
The Governor issued the warning while ordering a full investigation to unravel the immediate and remote causes of the recent mishap which occurred at Rumuoke Street in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
Rumuoke Street is off Okilton Junction on Ada George Road, Port Harcourt.
Speaking through Chukwuemeka Woke, the Commissioner responsible for Special Projects, Fubara said the Ministry of Urban Development has been mandated to get to the bottom of the matter and report its findings to government.
He stressed that government will not spare anyone found to have played any role leading to the crash of the building.
“The Ministry of Urban Development is to take immediate action by conducting site investigations, and site inspections, destructive testing and non-destructive testing of collapsed structural element to establish their strength by the determination of the yield strength of the reinforcements and sieve analysis of the soil at the site, to ascertain the immediate and remote causes of the building collapse”, the governor noted.
Engr. Chukwuemeka Woke, Commissioner for Special Projects who represented Governor Siminalayi Fubara encourages a victim of the collapsed building. 
Engr Chukwuemeka Woke empathise with another victim of the building disaster“If there is any compromise by those involved in the project”, he disclosed, “they will be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others”,
He said earth moving equipment have been drafted to the site of the collapsed building to remove debris while the area has been cordoned off by responders.
Four persons who were injured as a result of the incident are said to be in stable condition.
Doctors handling their cases assured the governor that the injured would be free to go home soon.
The Port Harcourt Telegraph reports that the representative of the State Governor visited the victims where they are receiving treatment.-
