Chaos in the East: IPOB threatens Igbo Governors

Governors of the eastern states have been urged to relocate to Abuja while they still have time to leave with their lives.

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Independent Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, warned in reaction to the police killing of members of the proscribed group in Imo State that the East is no longer safe for serving governors elected on different political platforms.

The Biafran leader who took to Twitter to announce his position described the governors of the East as “Fulani slaves.”

Meanwhile, Governors of the Eastern states are putting finishing touches to their effort to establish Ebube Agu, an internal mechanism that is expected to defend the region from the actions of non state actors who are reportedly undermining peace and security in the area.

The Governors who are equally spitting fire say the broad framework outlining the operations of Ebube Agu has been agreed on.

The killing of IPOB operatives, including the acclaimed coordinator of the group’s actions in the South East region has drawn the ire of Biafran agitators.

But within Nigeria’s intelligence and security community, the liquidation of the Biafran fighters is raising some hope.

The Police Saturday eliminated a commander and six other combatants, an action which led a suspected IPOB hit squad to storm Governor Hope Uzodimma’s village home in retaliation.

While public attention was turned in the direction of the East, a group of suspected Biafrans crossed Imo territory, allegedly entered Rivers State through adjourning bushes and killed at least nine security operatives on Rivers soil.

The attackers might have intended to create fear among the Rivers people, but their action may have apparently succeeded in rousing the anger of owners of the State who are bitter over the early Sunday raid.
