Delegates of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State are leaving their homes.

They are headed for the venue of the gubernatorial primary where they will elect a gubernatorial candidate.

About 1,595 delegates will be participating in Thursday’s gubernatorial primary.

A breakdown of the figures show that five delegates drawn from the 319 wards would be participating in the exercise.

A further breakdown of the stats indicates that 638 delegates are women while the remaining 957 are males.

Aspirants who are offering themselves for service at the governorship level include Pastor Tonye Cole, Senator Magnus Abe, Hon. Ojukaye Flag Amachree Dr Sokonte Davies and Hon. Michael West.

There are hints that the venue of the gubernatorial primary could be the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium although the Telegraph has learnt the venue picked may likely change.

Meanwhile, sources within the APC reveal that Amaechi may have had a meeting Wednesday night with President Muhammadu Buhari.

The meeting, our sources say, lasted for hours at the Presidential Villa.

Details of the outcome of the meeting between ‘father’ and ‘son’ are not yet known.

But sources say it may not be unconnected with the presidential ambition of the former minister and what some who spoke to this medium ananimously say is the political situation in Rivers State.

Barring any change in strategy,, there are however indications from the political grapevine that delegates who are aligned to the former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, are most likely to cast their votes for Cole.

The Port Harcourt Telegraph is keeping an eye on developments within the APC as delegates gather to exercise their franchise at the primary.
