Ajuri Ngelale, Presidential spokesman quoted President Bola Tinubu as saying, “The Honourable Minister, Wike, is not just the Minister of FCT, he is also my adviser and an admirer of mine.”
Tinubu expressed satisfaction with the activities of the former Rivers State Governor as a cabinet Minister.

President Tinubu said he has heard the request of the Rivers people over the dilapidated Eleme-Onne axis of the East West Road which leads to the refinery in Port Harcourt.
He assured the people of Rivers State of the determination of the Federal administration to reposition the country.
There is no reason, the President stressed, why the Rivers people who are richly endowed and supportive of the nation and his administration should not be carried along.
Tinubu acknowledged the significant contributions of Rivers State towards the advancement of the nation and promised he would leave no stone unturned in his effort to turn Nigeria around.

He urged Nigerians, particularly the younger generation, to be a bit more patient with the Government.
“I am the captain and chief salesman of the country”, Tinubu remarked, “We have to reverse the trend and achieve possibilities within a short period of time.”
“Our people have high expectations of us”, the President emphasized, “I pledge to work hard, and I pray to God to put me on the right path, not to disappoint Nigerians.”

He however made a strong case for the rehabilitation of the Eleme-Onne end of the East West Road which would take traffic to the Port Harcourt Refinery and beyond.
If all goes according to plan, the refinery which comes on stream in December may play a pivotal role in the stabilization of the pump price of petrol and the reduction of refined crude.
