We’ll Return Assembly To Permanent Site, Fubara Vows
By PHC Telegraph
As work proceeds on the reconstruction of the State House of Assembly, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has vowed that Rivers lawmakers would commence full legislative activities in the complex by the first quarter of next year.
The Governor who visited the site Monday said the government which is preparing to forward the next State budget for approval would do so in the hallowed chambers of the complex which is nearing completion.
Fubara who gave the hint while inspecting the extent of work on the project being handled by Monier Construction Company Limited expressed confidence that the lawmaking complex would be ready in December.

“We have been working hard to ensure their permanent sitting Chamber is put in place” the Governor remarked.
“You know the drama that surrounded our relationship before”, he further noted, “but by the grace of God, now that everything has been sorted out, it is our desire to ensure that the Assembly returns to their normal place of sitting.”
He observed that although work had been on before the period of emergency rule, not much was relatively achieved during the Ibas era.
“So I came here to ascertain the extent of work done, and I feel very impressed with what I have seen,” the chief executive stated.

He disclosed that he has been informed by the contractor that some aspects of the work, notably the interior finishing and some external work has been out sourced to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc in order to accelerate the pace of construction.
Apparently referring to the doctrine of separation of power, the governor assured that what is left of the renovation would be handed over to the legislature after the main chamber is complex
