Shooting At Dusk, Youth Dies In Oil Bearing Community
By PHC Telegraph

Gunfire has been reported in one of the oil bearing communities that dot the landscape of the Rivers State in the Niger Delta region.
According to information reaching our news desk, shooting erupted this night at Odagwa, a community within Ulakwo Clan in the Etche Local Government Area.
The identity of those who invaded the village at dusk is not immediately known.
But, we have heard that some persons dressed in uniform, suspected to be security agents, earlier raided the community in broad daylight.
They were supposedly in the oil producing village as s result the illegal bunkering racket that is going on there.
At least five vehicles were seized by the men in uniform, but their attempt to leave the community with cars belonging to youths in the committee was resisted.
The Port Harcourt Telegraph authoritatively reports that someone was killed this night during the exchange of gunfire.
His name is Prosper Asobiri, a young man aged between 19 and 20 years.
Asobiri in his lifetime was also nicknamed Asari by his fellow youths. His lifeless body was discovered after the shooters withdrew from the community.
We have however learnt that frightened villagers have emerged from their homes while those who took refuge in obscure corners have equally returned as the Odagwa people try to make sense of what has happened.
We have gathered that the community towncrier went round shortly after the shooting to ask people in the community to assemble for a meeting at the residence of a chief.
The Telegraph which is on the trail of the developing story would publish further details as soon as they become available.
