Signs that Senator Dino Melaye may not be the chosen one have emerged, following the ruling of the Kwara State Election Petitions Tribunal. Melaye’s electoral victory in the Kogi West Senatorial District was overturned by a three-man panel which agreed with the petition signed by Senator Smart Adeyemi alleging malpractices in the February polls. In a unanimous ruling the panel headed by Justice A.O, Chijioke accepted Adeyemi’s grounds of petition and ordered a re-election. But in a sharp reaction, Senator Melaye said he would take back his seat at the Court of Appeal. Melaye who took to his Twitter handle vowed that he would win the Kogi governorship race in November this year. For now, his position in the Senate remains dicey. Dino has been largely controversial, turning into one of the greatest opponents of the incumbent President. In the meantime, Melaye is working on his appeal with lawyers who believe he still has strings after he was declared winner to return to the upper chamber.
