Three persons who were part of a team of assassins that raided the country home of a former President,  Dr Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday have lost their lives.
They were summarily shot by soldiers within the vicinity who rallied to repel the deadly onslaught of an unknown gang which killed a soldier and others on guard duty.

Reports say the attackers who came in five speed boats tried to gain entrance via a nearby river that adjourns the residence of the former President.
It is not known  what the motive for
the attack was, or if the former President was home at the time of the raid.
While some Nigerians are already alleging political motive as police shocked by the bloody attack commence investigations, others  think the dare-devil plan may have been to take him hostage.
So far, Jonathan hasn’t reacted publicly, but Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide said the former President is safe.
“Former President @GEJonathan is safe”, Omokri who took to  his twitter handle noted, stressing that a “statement is being released to the media. The Face of Democracy in Africa is grateful for all your concerns.”
It would not be the first time Jonathan’s residence in the village would be attacked.
It would be the second time gunmen would storm Jonathan’s residence in Otuoke.
Recall that the first occurred whilst Jonathan was the Vice President of Nigeria.
On that occasion, part of the palatial country home was scorched by fire.
