Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Transportation says Nigerians should imbibe the spirit of repentance and forgiveness.
The Minister, regarded as one of Nigeria’s shining lights, urged Nigerians through his twitter handle to  reflect on the significance of the Christmas season.
He said  it was necessary for the nation at a time like this to embrace peace and harmony in accordance with the virtues which are associated with the birth of Christ.
‘As we mark the birth of Christ, let us also reflect on its significance, the joy he brings to our lives and the need for repentance, forgiveness, brotherliness, peace & harmony in our nation”, Amaechi remarked.
He seized the opportunity to wish Nigerians a blissful celebration and the very best of a holiday season.
In a related development, Dakuku Peterside, Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA),  has said  the appreciation of circumstances surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ, especially by Christians, is the primary reason for the celebration of Christmas.
Peterside said in a Christmas message that the salvation of mankind would be impossible if people fail to love one another.
“Beyond the issue of celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ is the need for Christians to deepen their knowledge and understanding of God’s love for mankind.
“Whilst we make merry and give out gift items, we must also show love to one another and avoid situations that tend to divide us as a people.
“Despite the challenges we have faced as a nation, this period offers us the opportunity to show love to one another and live peacefully,” he stated.
The NIMASA boss appealed to Nigerians to support President Muhamnadu Buhari’s administration, saying he is working hard to bequeath a better nation.
“President Buhari and his vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo have shown love for this country and it is evident in the way and manner they have been progressing”, Peterside stressed.
“I appeal to Nigerians across board to pray for them in the spirit of the season, show love to our neighbours and live peacefully amongst ourselves,” the maritime official added.
