Aguma grabs exposure, takes Rivers APC to task

After many years of playing behind the scene unnoticed, Igo Aguma, a former member of the National Assembly is in the spotlight.
He has apparently pulled the rung from under the feet of Senator Magnus Abe who is seen as the leader of internal opposition within the Rivers APC.
Aguma whose sister-in-law was reappointed commissioner by the Wike administration dragged the APC to court just as the party got ready to organize congresses to fill party offices.
Igo’s recourse to court action late last year came after a publication in which he attacked certain leaders of the party, saying they were not the only ones who occupy leadership positions in the Rivers APC.
Although that action came as a huge surprise, there are indications it may have been part of a move to warm up to an emerging group in the South South led by the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo Agege.
That group is currently contending for power, relevance and influence within the geopolitical region, according to information reaching our news desk.
Following the emergence of a new NDDC board, the Omo Agege group which claimed ownership of events leading to the dissolution of the commission’s acting board reportedly swung into action.

Part of the move, to expand its coast, we have reliably gathered, was to embark on a recruitment drive in order to woo new converts.
We cannot however confirm if Igo and his backers were contacted, but some insiders who are monitoring the trend tend to think there might have been a possibility they were allegedly reached.
Somehow, the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari to withdraw the membership of the board which was screened by the Senate has left many who were gravitating in the direction of the Omo Agege group in serious confusion.
The Presidency appears bent for now in conducting a forensic audit into the activities of the NDDC.
Reports say astounding recoveries of hidden or stolen funds are already being made.
Contractors as well as financial institutions who have been holding unto public funds are offering to return same as the investigation ordered by the President gathers steam.
