The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has paid the new N30,000 minimum wage to workers in the civil service.
But there are indications that workers serving in tertiary institutions in the State may not have been covered under the new wage payment.
The Telegraph which has been monitoring workers – Government negotiations can authoritatively report that the new salaries released by the Wike administration has hit the accounts of many workers in the State.
A Telegraph survey shows that workers who bank with Zenith are usually among the first to receive their pay because of the intimate relationship between the bank and the Rivers State Government.
Those workers paid by Zenith received their salaries Tuesday.
From facts that are emerging, the Rivers State Government apparently stuck to its gun despite pressure from organized labour asking it to pay arrears.
The Telegraph quoting some sources within the administration had on Monday published in its hard copy edition that Governor Wike will not pay arrears.
