Developing story: Dumo affirms custody of father’s corpse

Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs  has affirmed through his spokesman, Charles Ijuye Dagogo that the body of late Chief OB Lulu Briggs is in his custody.
Some media organisations, including the Telegraph had received indications Tuesday night that the body of the late Kalabari chief had been spirited away to an undisclosed destination. But there are strong indications that the remains of Chief OB Lulu Briggs was formerly handed over to his son by the Ghanaian authorities.
Ijuye Dagogo said in a statement that the body of the late chief was taken from the mortuary where it was kept after a Ghana High Court on Tuesday dismissed an application filed by Mrs Seinye Lulu Briggs.
Part of the statement read, “Today, Tuesday February, 25, 2020, a High Court in Ghana dismissed the fresh application by Mrs. Seinye Lulu-Briggs, seeking to further restrain the mortuary and the Ghanaian police from releasing the body of her late husband to the family led by Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs.
“Accordingly, the mortuary has released the mortal remains to the family led by Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, as ordered by the High Court on December, 23, 2019 and upheld by the Supreme Court of Ghana on February, 11, 2020.”,
“It would be recalled that Mrs. Seinye Lulu-Briggs filed a new application on th same Tuesday 11th February, 2020, that the Supreme Court dismissed her Certiorari application and stay of execution.”
