The Director General of NIMASA, Dr Dakuku Peterside has been replaced, a few days to the expiration of his tenure.
This is part of what seems like a minor  shakeup within certain parastatals under the Ministry of Transportation.
President Muhammadu Buhari who approved the replacement of Peterside directed that Bashir Jamoh should step in as the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency.
Dakuku Peterside who came on board in 2016 was expected to complete his tenure on March 10, 2020.
The implication is that Peterside has duly completed his tenure at NIMASA, a tenure most industry sources agree, relatively changed the face of the maritime sector.
His replacement, Jamoh, is currently the Executive Director, Administration and Finance, at the agency.
Jamoh is the current President of the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria, CIoTA.
Meanwhile, a new Director of Marine Operations at the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, has been named.
He is Hon. Onari Brown, a former member of the Rivers State House of Assembly as well as a member of the Buhari Campaign Organisation.
Brown who hails from Akuku Toru Local Government Area replaces Dr Sekonte Davis whose tenure in office was terminated three months before it was due to expire.
Dr Davies in his reaction has thanked the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi for the opportunity he enjoyed serving the nation.
He said he had become more knowledgeable of issues he did not disclose, and said he would remain loyal to the APC and its leadership.
