Asita O Asita, former deputy governorship candidate of the APC  in Rivers State has successfully emerged as the Chairman of the Board at  NIMASA.
Asita who also served two terms as a member of the House of Representatives is one of the new faces introduced by President Muhammadu  Buhari to drive the maritime sector.
The other is Bashir Jamoh, an author and administrator with a deep understanding of maritime operations in the country.
Recall that the Director General of NIMASA, Dr Dakuku Peterside was replaced Wednesday, a few days to the expiration of his tenure.
His replacement, Jamoh, who is currently the Executive Director, Administration and Finance, at the agency is the President of the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria, CIoTA.
The introduction of new faces is seen in some quarters as part of a minor  shakeup within certain parastatals that are under the Ministry of Transportation.
President Muhammadu Buhari who approved the replacement of Peterside directed that Bashir Jamoh should go upstairs as the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency.
Dakuku Peterside who came on board in 2016 was expected to complete his tenure on March 10, 2020.
Industry sources agree that the tenure of the outgoingdirector-general was eventful.
They say that the Peterside era relatively changed the face of the maritime sector.
Meanwhile, Onari Brown has been named as the new Director of Marine Operations of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA.
Brown, a former member of the Rivers State House of Assembly as well as a member of the Buhari Campaign Organisation hails from Akuku Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State.
He replaces Dr Sekonte Davies, a Kalabari from the Degema Local Government Area
Dr Davies in his reaction has thanked the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi for the opportunity he enjoyed serving the nation.
He said he had become more knowledgeable of issues he did not disclose, and said he would remain loyal to the APC and its leadership.
