President Muhammadu Buhari has urged Rt Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Transportation, to remain focused on his quest to improve the lot of Nigerians.
The President  said in a message he sent on the occasion of the Minister’s 55th birthday anniversary that posterity would remember him kindly because of his contributions to state and nation building.
According to the Senior Special Assistant  to the President, Garba Shehu, the President commended Amaechi for his “resulted-oriented leadership style, which positively reflects on people and projects he has supervised over the years.”
The President noted that the Minister of Transportation and former Governor of Rivers State deserved to be celebrated for his  “meteoric political rise, underlined by his forthrightness, diligence and deep sense of loyalty and patriotism.”
President Buhari said he believed that Amaechi’s “investments in the development of Rivers State” and his “current efforts in building infrastructure across the country will always be remembered by posterity.”
Urging him to stay “focused on the larger picture of working to improve lives”, the President extoled Amaechi for “his willingness to make sacrifices”
He expressed deep appreciation, to the Minister for “the major role he played in the 2015 and 2019 Presidential Elections”, saying that his “continuous contributions to promote peace and unity of purpose” is legendary.
President Buhari prayed that the Almighty God would “position the Director General of his Presidential Campaigns for greater glory” and “grant him more opportunities to serve the country and humanity.”
Across the country,  analysts say the wording of the President’s message was significant.
They think that it was a reflection of the President’s confidence in the former Governor whose determination to rekindle the rail sector is being applauded.
Said the Publisher of the Port Harcourt Telegraph, “Amaechi has received the greatest award ever. Coming from the President, this is indeed proof of Amaechi’s devotion to service and his commitment to nation building.”
In Rivers State where Amaechi comes from, the President’s comment expressing  hope that Amaechi would have more opportunities to serve the nation is beginning to resonate among the people.
His admirers say the Minister of Transportation has succeeded in taking the image of Rivers State and the South South geopolitical region to commanding heights.
