The Ministry of Transportation says it has begun test runs on the completed Itakpe-Warri standard gauge tracks in Delta State.
Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi who disclosed this Friday said that new coaches recently acquired by the Federal Government are being test run.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Amaechi remarked, “Today we started test-run of the newly delivered coaches on the completed Itakpe-Warri standard gauge rail line.”
Although he did not say when operations would commence, there are strong indications that the move may be part of efforts to position the railway authorities for a post COVID-19 era.
Despite the worrisome trend created by the spread of the Coronavirus, work has been reportedly going on at different rail development sites.
Amaechi who has refused to be drawn openly into ongoing cat fights within the ruling APC, has remained focused on his assignment.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari recently acknowledged that the Minister of Transportation has surpassed his expectations.
