Uzodinma backs Umahi

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State says the declaration  of the Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi for the APC has strengthened the electoral fortune of the party in the South East.

Describing Umahi as a man widely respected throughout the South East, Governor Uzondinma observed that his exit has delivered a mortal blow at the heart of the PDP.

Uzodinma said claims by certain persons whom he did not name that his colleague and brother joined the APC in order to pursue a presidential ambition were completely false.

He said he held discussions with the Ebonyi governor before he decided to dump the Peoples Democratic Party for the ruling party, which is fighting hard to unify the country and provide basic infrastructure for the benefit of the people.

Uzodinma disclosed that there was no time the issue of the presidency was ever canvassed and wondered why those hate Umahi were peddling baseless allegations of a  non existent presidential ambition.

He said those behind such amazing lies were engaged in a fruitless smear campaign that would not succeed, stressing that Umahi is a man adored by the people of the South East geopolitical region.

Recall that Femi Fani-Kayode had predicted that more PDP governors are likely to find home in the APC, with Governor Wike of Rivers State claiming he had knowledge of  one of his colleagues who was on the verge of turning his back on the PDP.

Reports from the Southeast  suggest that these times are not very good for the PDP which appears determined to destroy a zoning arrangement that ensures the rotation of power between the North and South.

Between 1999 and 2019, the Igbo nation has thrown its weight behind the PDP, without any move by the party to encourage an Igbo presidency.

Now that more Igbos believe there is no future in the PDP, many say the season of mass defections in the region has arrived.
