Oil workers sing alleluia as Xmas draws near

Oil companies are gradually recalling staff who have been laid off as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Telegraph investigations reveal that Shell, Chevron and Total are among  companies that are reopening their doors to admit workers.

A great majority of oil workers have been forced to remain at home in the wake of the lockdown ordered by governments across the globe.

The oil sector has been severely hit by the pandemic while oil prices have plumated in the open market despite efforts by oil producers and their cartel, OPEC, to cut down production.

We have learnt through impeccable sources that returning oil workers are being placed on half pay by the oil companies.

Our investigation also show that Slumberger, an oil servicing firm has landed a job with Total, according to a source who spoke to this publication under conditions of anonymity.

This could mean that the economy which relies heavily on the oil fields largely located in the Niger Delta may be picking up steam.

Except for a recent attack on an oil facility, most of the Niger Delta region have stayed relatively stable.
