Evidence that the foundation Chairman of the APC in Rivers State, Davies Ibiamu Ikanya may be unhappy is gradually emerging.
The Andoni-born politician has been reportedly maintaining a low political profile.
But the politician who was replaced by Ojukaye Flag Amachree who has suddenly surfaced has not left anyone in doubt about what he is up to.
A picture of the former State chairman of the APC hobnobbing behind the scene with the breakaway group led by Senator Magnus Abe and Hon. Igo Aguma has since gone viral.
The picture shows the former chairman at a strategy meeting that is chaired by Igo Aguma.
Mixed reactions have since greeted the release of the picture at a time that the hostility between supporters of the Minister and Senator Magnus Abe is taking another turn.
How did Ikanya who was expected to be a candidate for the National Assembly elections that was seemingly blown away by the litigation filed by the Abe group get to this point?
Our findings show that Ikanya who probably got along with Dakuku Peterside is bitter with the way he was treated.
He got booted out of office as chairman of the party after he had secured assurances that he would be the one to lead the party into the election in 2019.
Insiders say that the young turks in the APC were at that time pushing for a younger person to assume the chairmanship.
The preferred choice of those who did not want Ikanya back in office turned out to be Ojukaye.
Ikanya lost out but his secretary, Emeka Beke survived the political coup. A close associate of Ikanya told this publication, “Ikanya was removed because he favoured the sale of forms to all who were aspiring for office in the run off to the 2019 elections. Of course, this included members of the Abe team. What did Ojukaye achieve despite the hype?”
The Telegraph has learnt that Ikanya was allegedly pained by the reward system in the APC. He is said to have revealed that hardworking members were being ignored in favour of bystanders who hang around the corridors of power. Ikanya has crossed over to where he could be used against the National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus and the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi from what we hear.
