Property worth millions of naira have been destroyed by fire at the popular Plank Market at Marine Base which is populated by sellers of building materials.
The fire incident occurred Wednesday after traders had closed their shops and gone home.
Valuable items belonging to the traders were not recovered, according to what we have learnt
So far, there has been no reaction from the Rivers State Government, following the destruction wrecked by the inferno.
The source of the fire is not yet known, but Eyewitnesses say the incident which took place Wednesday night left many residents in fear.
Our information shows that residents did not go to bed until about 4am Thursday as concerted efforts were put up to stop the fire from spreading to other buildings in the area.
Traders were spotted by our Correspondent Thursday discussing the incident. Most of them were in shock.
