The All Progressives Congress, APC, has patted the  Federal Government on the back over its decision to  appoint several sons and daughters of the State into governing councils of federal universities, polytechnics and Colleges of Education.

Chief Ogbonna Nwuke, APC’s Spokesman in Rivers State said in a statement that the number of appointments made as well as the quantum of projects earmarked  for execution in the State by the Federal Government has proved that the Rivers State is indeed ranked among foremost states which “are in the nation’s political  mainstream.”

The APC congratulated the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari for the appointments, saying Rivers people are happy with the recognition extended to their sons and daughters.

“We are impressed by the quality and exposure of Rivers persons who have been named as chairmen and members of Governing Councils of institutions of higher learning owned by the Federal Government.

“This number of persons have never been appointed in one swoop in the history of our dear State.

“We are equally satisfied by attempts made by the Federal Government to reflect the ethnic and geographical spread of the Rivers State in its choice of appointees.

“We know that more appointments into boards of federal parastals and establishments are being awaited. When that time comes, more Rivers people will be called upon to serve our great country.

Turning attention to the intention of the Buhari administration to fast track growth, the APC noted, “the quantum of development projects conceived by the Federal Government  has proved that the President is happy with the State that produced the Director General of his campaign organisation.

“We wish to commend the Minister of Transportation,  Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi for his commitment to the service of our country and his determination to ensure that Rivers people  are beneficiaries of the present administration  at the centre.”
