Update: Picking Up An Unusual Award At Trendsetters, I did not set out to be controversial – Nwuke

Publisher of the Port Harcourt Telegraph and Spokesman of the APC in Rivers State, Chief Ogbonna Nwuke has won this year’s Most Controversial Politician Award.

Nwuke was named winner of the category at the Trendsetters  Awards, TSA, which took place in Port Harcourt Sunday at Hago Heights.

The publishers of the African Update Newspaper and the Springpoint Magazine who are the organizers of the annual events said participants polled voted the Spokesman of the APC and former member of the House of Representatives as the most controversial of Rivers politicians at this time.

Senator Magnus Abe had won the first edition of the award of the Most Controversial Politician which is now in its third year.

Speaking while receiving the award, Nwuke said, “I did not set out to be controversial.”

The publisher remarked that in his practice days, colleagues alluded to him in NUJ circles as the “Grand Commander”.

In other circles, he admitted, some referred to him as the “Pen Terrorist”, but Nwuke said he has always been guided by a desire to serve society t.

The former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry and one-time Commissioner for Information agreed with the organizers that the award may have been influenced by the strong views he holds on a wide range of issues, and the role he is presently playing as the Spokesman of the APC.

“I dedicate the award to all those who voted”, Nwuke noted, saying that in pursuit of the ideals of his party, “I will not shrink.”

He congratulated the African Update Newspaper which also marked its 10th anniversary on the newsstand, stressing that the publication has been able in the last 10 years to educate, enlighten and entertain its readers.
