.. As Saraki joins the race for ’23

Evidence that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar would not tolerate the idea of a Southern presidential bid has emerged.

Banners proclaiming “Atiku 2023” have appeared at Eagle Square, venue of the ongoing national convention of the PDP.

Atiku is not alone in what appears to be a ploy to stab the South in the back. Bukola Saraki, a one-time ally of Rotimi Amaechi has joined.

His posters, from what can be seen even outnumber that of Atiku Abubakar.

“Saraki’s posters are on cars and roadsides” a PDP stalwart revealed, “It is beginning to look like the South has a lot of fighting to do.”

Although the PDP is yet to take a decision on where it would zone the presidency, conventional practice within the PDP has it that when the chairmanship is zoned to one geographical region, the other automatically gets the presidency.

Power shifted to the north under Buhari in 2015. Atiku’s bid to snatch power from a fellow northerner in 2019 failed.

The appearance of his flex bznners tend to suggest that northerners might be gearing up to refuse the idea of power rotation.

But, it would be the responsibility of NEC to decide the matter of which part of the country should region the presidency.
