APC, PDP party flags..the struggle for power begins

PDP proud of Abaribe’s patriotism as APC sets up Zoning Committee

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has hailed Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe for his heroic exploits on the floor of the Senate, expecially his doggedness in driving the passage of pro-people bills.

PDP’s tribute to Abaribe is coming on the heels of APC’s decision to set up its Zoning Committee that would share national party offices in readiness for the forthcoming National Convention.

The PDP noted with satisfaction, “Senator Abaribe’s sense of patriotism in leading the PDP Caucus in the Senate to resist the shenanigans of the APC and ensured the successful amendment of the Electoral Act to furthe guarantee free, fair and credible elections in 2023.”

“Senator Abaribe’s untiring role with other PDP leaders to ensure the stability and growth” of the Party “especially in the mission to Rescue and Rebuild our nation from the misrule of the APC is commendable and outstanding”, the PDP said.

It added, “The PDP congratulates Senator Abaribe on this remarkable milestone and prays to God to grant him many more years in good health in the service of our dear fatherland.”

Abaribe has already indicated interest to run election for the office of the State Governor.

The implication is that the current tenure being served by the Senator may mark the end of a successful career of the federal lawmaker in the National Assembly.

Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the APC CECPC and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, has approved the appointment of the Party’s Zoning Committee.

According to the statement, Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahaman AbdulRazak will serve as the Chairman of the Zoning Committee while the Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege is the Deputy Chairman.

The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Nkem Okeke is the Secretary of the Zoning Committee.

Other members of the committee include Prof.  Etim Nyong, Dr. MB Shehu, Comrade Mustapha Salihu, Sen. Teslim Folarin and Alhaji Sadeeq Sule-Iko Sami.

According to the statement signed by Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, National Secretary of the APC, the Committee is expected to submit its report on Monday 7th March, 2022.
