I will not run – Rep member

Rep Chinyere Igwe representing the people of PHALGA Federal Constituency II in the House of Representatives says he will not be offering himself for re-election in 2023.

But, the outgoing lawmaker has declared that he is not turning his back on active politics at the state and federal level.

Igwe said on Open Conversation on Atlantic Television that his withdrawal from the race is consistent with the pledge that he made in 2018 while he was seeking the mandate of his constituents.

The lawmaker refused an imputation by the host that there is an attempt to push him out of active politics, stressing, “No one can retire me from politics.”

Igwe said he has had a unique chance of representing the people of PHALGA Federal Constituency II twice in the Green Chamber.

The lawmaker who owns Wish FM and Atlantic Television thanked his party and his constituents for the opportunity to serve them.

He acknowledged that he has given the people of Federal Constituency II a voice and contributed his quota to state and nation building.

“I am a member of the PDP”, Igwe stressed, assuring that he would remain a member of the party.

“Our loyalty”, he however added, “has become our albatross.”
